Dietary lycopene may significantly reduce the risk of heart disease,suggests new research, which found that women with the highest levels of the antioxidant in their blood had a 34 percent reduced risk of the disease compared to those with lower levels of the nutrient. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women worldwide, killing around 8 million each year, more than 18 times the rate caused by breast cancer.
