With Eye Muscle Exercises Strabismus Can Be Cured – Vision Therapy For Strabismus

With proper eye muscle exercises strabismus symptoms can be greatly reduced or even cured by training your eyes to relax and work together. Strabismus, more commonly known as cross eyed or lazy eye, is basically described as the inability of both eyes working together to focus on an object. Fortunately, the condition can be cured without the need for artificial lenses such as glasses or contacts.

In order to see things clearly we need both eyes to focus on the object. If we try too hard it can lead to squinting and straining of our eyes which can be quite damaging. We call it cross-eyed when one eye is focused and the other is turned out or slightly up or down. Lazy eye is when one eye takes longer to catch up to the other one.

Strabismus is often caused by a subconscious problem. Stress can cause our eye muscles to tense up and become strained. If the muscles in our eyes get too tense it can cause our eyes to work independently from each other and one or the other can simply pull in whatever direction if feels like. Inner turmoil can cause one of the eyes to look away.

One method we can use to solve the problem of strabismus is to train our eyes to relax. One exercise to do this is called the word exercise. Find a word on the page that is 5 or more letters long and focus on it in an attempt to make it clear. You will find that the more you stare at the word it becomes less clear and more blurry.

Next, relax your eyes, allow them to hover over the general area of the word and trace across the letters. Remember to blink as normal. Allow your eyes to lead the way, do not force them or stare. You should find that the word is much clearer now that you’ve allow your eyes to remain mobile and to relax. Keeping your eyes moving is what prevents them from becoming strained.

Learning exercises to relax the eyes is a great way to develop lasting habits and ensure great eyesight for years to come. This is simply one example of the eye muscle exercises strabismus will respond to.
