It is PAINFUL if the surgeon doesn’t do it correctly. I was six and I had this done. The shot was annoying. Imagine getting a need stuck into your eyelid…Immediately after that, they mad the incision. My eye wasn’t even numb yet! So I, a six year old then, was screaming and crying the whole entire procedure!
hi, i need help guys…
my son have this exact same bulge on his left lower eyelid, now it’s been 6 months that he’s having it. we went to an opthalmologist like 3 weeks after it appreared and the doc said it should be surgically removed.
im scared of this because my son is only 4. is it safe for a young kid to undergo this kind of surgery??? and there’s another one beginning to grow on his right upper eyelid! it’s crazy….. how can ideal with this? im just a young mom and im really worried.
Hey I was just wondering if you got your chalazions removed? How did it go?did they remove it all at the same time? I actually have 4 on both of my eyes=(((
it went fine. they screwed up the first time so i had to go in again :S it was a pain in my ass. u can definately feel them digging out all the muck though. i have a permanent scar over my left eye lid because they had to remove mine externally.
It may look really professional, but the patient undergoing the surgery will most likely suffer from dry eyes and maybe eyelid twitching in the future, due to the massive incision made on the eyelid.
the wound is more than 5mm long, causing damages to healthy tissues surrounding the chalazion.
however, “chalazion operation by docnehagala” video is a much better option
notice the incision made in this video. and the other video.
No, not for a while. However, you CAN definitely wear contacts & makeup later on into the future.
If you’ve had this operation, or if you’ve been advised to have this operation then wearing contacts and/or makeup should be far less of a priority than getting your eyelid back into shape.
You want your inner eyelids to be as moist as possible; contacts affect that.
Basically, b911; you’ll probably want to wait atleast a couple weeks after the surgery (and the receding inflammation).
I have been getting these infrequently for about 2 years and so far they keep telling me that they are too small to operate. The lumps get bigger and then recede, so there is no telling when they will come. Every appointment seems to be when they are in the smaller stages. I ask about the contacts only because I am in law enforcement and glasses are somewhat dangerous. Contacts are just more practical. Thanks for the reply. Hope you are better. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I just had this procedure done yesterday. The needle in the eyelid really is the worst part. They actually gave me like 5 shots, but you only feel the first one. They clamped my eyelid and flipped it and it caused me a little discomfort, not bad though. They dug the infection out and then put the patch on my eye… Now using Bacitracin ointment in the eye and waiting it out to heal… send me any questions you might have! It’s good to know you aren’t alone!
I went to an ophthalmologist to see what he can do about this, and he told me to put a warm compress on my eyelid 5 times a day for about 5-10 minutes and that there was a 50% chance that it would go away by doing that. I have 3 bumps on my lower right eyelid. I guess my question is, if I get it surgically removed, won’t they just come back since the glands will still be plugged? I see surgery as only being a temporary solution…

No it’s really fast. About a few minutes.

that’s awful, Sammy Sam Sam.
nevertheless, with such a localized incision it seems pretty normal to proceed moments after applying the anesthetic.
the problem was probably due to the fact that a child’s pain tolerance is vastly different from that of an adult’s (or even an adolescent’s).
but I’m no doctor, I bet 95% of 6 year old’s would have reacted the same way to an eye surgery regardless of the amount of pain.

Well…I really hope I don’t have to get this surgery.

just put a warm compress(cloth) on it for 20 minutes 3 times a day and it should clear up in a week or so.

April 18th, 2009 at 9:31 am

April 18th, 2009 at 9:32 am

April 18th, 2009 at 11:24 am
