Type 2 Diabetes Diet
Here are some Type 2 diabetes diet tips to help lower your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes:
DO:
1.Consume monounsaturated fats in moderation.Substitute olive or canola oil for butter,replace mayonnaise with avocados in salads, and include nuts as a snack(in moderate amount).
2.Eat high fibre food such as vegetables,whole-grain bread,brown rice and fruit as they may prevent as rise in blood sugar levels.
3.Eat fish at least twice a week.The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish sush as salmon,sardines,rainbow trout and herring help reduce risk of heart disease.
4.Choose your breakfast cereal wisely.One serving of cereal should ideally contain 15 grams of carbohyrate.Look for cereals with at least 3 grams of fibre.
5.Choose fruit that fresh,canned its own juice or dried(without adder sugar) instead of fruit juice.
DO NOT:
1.Consume too much saturated fat,the type of fat found in animal products(cheese,whole milk,sour cream,ice cream,red meat,poultry with skin),fried food and crispy snack food.
2.Rely on food that are made of sugar.Avoid soda and sweetened beverages,cookies,cakes,pastries and candy on a regular basic.
3.Eat highly processed,low fibre food such as white bread,white rice and snack crackers.
4.These food tend to raise blood sugar levels,plus they contain fewer nutrients and fibre.
5.Drink coffee.Opt for green tea as it has been shown to help promote weight loss when used with a lower calorie diet and exercise.
