Sleep Sound Machine -The The Simple Solution For Sleeping Soundly
Do you fall asleep quickly, stay asleep all night and wake up refreshed in the morning raring to go? No? Well you’re in good company. Millions of people find the whole “sleep thing” tricky. I’ve always been a light sleeper and even if I dropped off to sleep, I would always wake up again a few hours later, unable to get to sleep again. It was so frustrating. When it was time to get up in the morning I felt like a wet rag. It was just the same if I took a pill to help me sleep. I was irritable and groggy in the morning and found it difficult to get things done. I was such a bear with a sore head that my husband decided to take matters into his own hands. One day he came home with a sleep sound machine. I’m ashamed to say that I had never heard of such a thing.
So what is a sleep sound machine?
A sleep sound machine is type of generator that produces noises that are pleasant to the human ear. You can choose from sounds of nature such as waves lapping on a beach, wind through the trees or torrential rain. The sleep sound machine itself is a basic device consisting of a speed switch and a fan. The sound that you select is produced through the slots in the casing of the sleep sound machine. You simply turn up the volume to the desired level that is comfortable for you until your ear get used to the new sound. This new sound then blocks out or absorbs noises in your environment that might prevent sleep such as the noise of car horns, machinery, dogs barking, trains, or loud television noises. I was very sceptical at first but I went through the motions of selecting my “noise”, adjusting the volume and waiting. Sure enough, relaxed and soothed by the “new noise”, I went to sleep every time. The timer meant that it would switch itself off and if I woke up in the middle of the night I would simply turn it on again.
One of the best things about a sleep sound machine is that it has such small footprint and fits easily onto our bedroom dresser. Compact and easy to pack in a suitcase, the travel version is easy to take away on overnight stays in hotels or friends’ houses where background noise can sometimes be a problem for getting a good nights’ sleep. The dual voltage adaptor means that you can use it abroad and we’ve even been known to take ours on our camping trips, since it can work from 4 AA batteries. I wish that I had had a sleep sound machine years ago and I recommend it to all our friends, particularly those with little kids that need a lot of help to fall and stay asleep.
