Sleep Disorders In Youth

Just about couple of decades back, sleep was thought to be something very natural but not so is the case nowadays. In earlier days, sunset was thought to be the time to take the dinner and then going to sleep in an hour or so while sunrise would be the time to wake up as that is the time one is at its freshest best and most receptive to all faculities.

But nowadays, youngsters proudly tell that they take dinner around midnight, chat on net for few hours and doze off around the time when wise men used to wake up in the past. As for getting up,depends on their schedule. If no compulsion for office or studies, they get up post noon.No doubt, their circadian rhytms are altered and once past their youth, they will realize they are prone to many hormonal imbalances and consequent diseases. What they dont realize is that they are not going to remain young forever.Their bad habits are going to stay with them and unfortunately being transferred to their siblings.Maybe they dont care for their parent’s advice but i bet they are not going to feel happy seeing their children do the same.

Too much addiction to TV and Internet are also contributing to bad sleep as the radiation they emit are quite harmful to the brain.Bad dietary habits too play a part in harming sound sleep.I believe the earlier remedy of taking a glass of hot milk in the bed just helped in dozing off quickly.

If you want to see what effect you will have on your sleep if you correct these habits, look no further than young children sleeping or even a labourer lost in his cot without any airconditioner or mosquito repellent.

Remember, you may question many laws made by wise men but you are bound to suffer if you ignore the laws of nature.
