Heathy Eating : Solution To Avoiding Fast Food Calories

Everyone knows that fast food is bad for your personal health care, and if you take a look at some of the menus out there, you’ll see that fast food calories can really, really add up. And it’s not just the big macs and whoppers of the world that will kill you, but the fries and the fish filet and just about everything else on the menu. Even salads are packed with fast food calories, since they come with packs of dressing that are loaded in saturated fat and the like. So yeah, you’re being smart by ordering a salad. But if you use the dressing they give you, you might as well just be dumping a Snickers bar on top of it.

Take, for example, a salad from McDonald’s with Newman’s Own Creamy Caesar Dressing. Salads are good for you, and Newman’s Own has a great reputation for using only fresh, natural ingredients and even organic products. So if you don’t know exactly what to look for, you might find yourself fooled into eating something that’s not very good for you.

Anyway, the salad with Newman’s Own Creamy Caesar Dressing has 190 calories. On the face of it, that’s not too bad – about a tenth of what you need on a given day. But a whopping 170 of those calories are fat calories, producing 18 grams of total fat and four grams of saturated fat. Ouch.

Understand The Reality Of Genetic Diseases

Our genes determine, quite literally, who we are. Everything from our hair and eye color, to our temper, to our hand-eye coordination, to our height and weight and sexual preference is in our genes. Also, you’ll find our propensity toward genetic diseases written there as well.

It’s important to understand that genetic diseases doesn’t just mean something simple like “My father had rheumatoid arthritis, so there’s a good chance I’ll develop it as well.” Thought that is a part of it, as I know from experience. Both my father and my biological grandfather suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, and by the age of nine I was diagnosed with it as well. This is a clear case of genetic diseases being passed down from generation to generation, and it’s a simple fact of life.

But there are other type of genetic diseases, more likely genetic predispositions, that have to be accounted for as well. My father, for example, suffered his first heart attack before he turned forty years old. So did his father. So did my uncle on my father’s side. All of them, one way or another, developed heart disease at a young age. All of them were predisposed to it because of genetics. Two of them – my father and grandfather – died at age sixty five or young.

If you happen to be happily self-employed, say, as a successful freelance musician or writer, it can fill you with pity, looking at the rest of humanity getting up and rushing off to work at eight in the morning  in pressed suits when it’s raining and snowing at the same time. And fill you with  gratitude for what you have, as you look down at your bare feet and shorts, and the warmth of how your creativity keeps you productive in your own home. But there is one area at least where those poor drones have it better than you – finding good affordable health insurance.
