Risk Factors

There are several risk factors for experiencing the early menopause symptoms that you think you might have. First, if you have an autoimmune disorder you are more likely to experience early onset menopause, hence the early menopause symptoms. In addition, if you are anorexic or have another eating disorder that causes you to lose extreme amounts of wait you are at risk for early menopause. Symptoms might start earlier than you would like if you have had reproductive organ surgery such as a hysterectomy, ovarian surgery, and a tubal ligation. Finally, cancer treatments like radiation and chemotherapy can damage your ovaries beyond repair and cause you to have early menopause.

What The Symptoms Are

Early menopause symptoms vary by individual experiencing them. However, there are many early menopause symptoms that seem to be pretty stable across the board. First is irregular periods. Before true menopause sets in, most women experience a form of perimenopause. This is when your periods begin to be farther and farther apart. If you usually had a 28 day cycle, you might start realizing that it is a 30 or 35 day cycle. This is something you will experience if you go through a natural early menopause. Symptoms will be more intense and will probably be immediate cessation of periods if you go through a chemical early menopause.

Other early menopause symptoms include mood swings, vaginal dryness, changes in your body hair, night sweats, water retention, headaches, depression, chronic fatigue and, of course, hot flashes. It is important to note that every body is different, and if one body experiences some early menopause symptoms another body might experience completely different early menopause symptoms. You know your body better than anyone else, so make sure to talk to your doctor if you feel like you are experiencing early menopause symptoms. If you are still young and wish to have children, it is important to talk to your doctor to see if there is anything you can do to halt menopause.
