DHT Hair Regrowth Products Can Produce Good Results In Some Cases

Most men and women are troubled when they start to see signs of balding and/or thinning hair. After all, our hair is part of who we are and influences both how we view ourselves and how others perceive us to be.

Many types of balding are only temporary, and fall under the broad category of toxic alopecia. Examples would be balding caused by chemotherapy and stress related hair loss. Conversely, balding and/or thinning caused by androgenetic alopecia is progressive and will continue unless a suitable treatment option is found. The primary hormone behind this type of balding is the androgen hormone dihydrotestosterone or DHT, leading to DHT hair regrowth products becoming big business. Some suggest it could be a billion dollar industry!

And why shouldn’t it be? After all, it is estimated that nine out of every ten cases of hair loss in men and one out of every four in women is driven by this type of hair loss.

Prior to the discovery of minoxidil DHT hair regrowth products were based primarily on natural remedies that could be taken orally or applied topically. The oral formulas almost always included the herbs saw palmetto and nettle root. Ironically recent research has confirmed their effectiveness. The list of ingredients of topical formula are too numerous to list but included names such as lavender, sage, aloe, tea tree oil, peppermint oil and many others. Most of these topical DHT hair regrowth formulas are still widely available and have a loyal following, despite the effectiveness of topical minoxidil. The best explanation for this is that not all solutions work for everyone leading many to pursue natural remedies when either topical minoxidil or prescription finasteride (oral) have failed.

Currently minoxidil is the most widely used topical DHT hair regrowth formula. While most experts aren’t sure exactly how minoxidil works, they all agree that it can produce very good results protecting existing hair from the future ravages of androgenetic alopecia. Research suggests the number could be as high as 90 percent. It also can be effective in restoring lost hair,  but the numbers are much less impressive, with somewhere between 20 and 40 percent of users reporting new growth.

This somewhat anemic restorative number has stoked the search for combinations of natural ingredient to implement, in addition to minoxidil, to create DHT hair regrowth products which produce better results.

What Next? There are currently a handful of DHT hair regrowth products (specially formulated for both men and women) which have been proven effective both in blocking harmful hormones and bringing the all important dead hair follicles back to life. These specially formulated treatments can be used both as a preventative tool, starting before hair loss becomes severe, or after loss of hair has become noticeable. Whatever the level of balding or thinning you are experiencing these products could be just what is needed to overcome this latest life challenge.
