How To Get Radiant Skin In Summers?
Summer months are the time of the year when you want to minimize, be it clothing or be it skincare cosmetics. You are most likely looking for a low maintenance beauty routine that would take care of your skin effectively yet would not require you to apply layers and layers of skin care products. The summer heat can result in excessive oil production, acne breakouts, extreme skin dryness and sun damage. Fortunately, with just a little care, you can ensure that your skin stays protected and radiant throughout the summer months.
Here are some effective tips for a simple yet powerful summer skin care routine.
Keep your Skin Hydrated
One of the most common misconceptions is that you do not have to moisturize your skin during the summer months. And quite understandably so! The summer heat makes the skin very sweaty and oily, and thus people feel they don’t need to add any more moisture. However, the fact is heat and sweat can lead to dehydration which further leads to over-production of sebum (oil). When your skin lacks the necessary moisture, it would produce more sebum to compensate for the dryness and this leads to the cycle of breakouts and irritation.
Cool Down with Face Masks
Just raid your refrigerator and pick out things to prepare hydrating face-masks. Things like cucumber and aloe contain natural astringents and have hydrating properties. Slather them on your face and leave for about 30 minutes. Not only will your skin be hydrated but you will feel relieved and refreshed!
Use a Light Oil-free Moisturizer
It is not advisable to use heavy creamy moisturizers during the summer months unless you have extremely dry skin. Even then you should consider switching to a light weight moisturizer that contains intensive nourishing ingredients. Use a oil-free, non comedogenic moisturizer that wouldn’t clog your skin pores or cause breakouts. Prevent Skin Dryness
Skin dryness in summer is often elevated because of chlorine (in swimming pools) and air conditioners (at home and office). Make sure you take a short warm shower immediately after you get out of the swimming pool so as to rinse off the chlorine particles. Also, air conditioning systems pull out moisture-rich humidity from the air and thus end up drying the skin. So try and limit your time in air conditioned systems as much as you can.
Protect your Skin from the Sun
Unprotected and prolonged exposure to sunlight can wreck havoc on your skin especially during the summer months when the sunlight is the strongest. Sunlight can cause sun damage and also promote premature aging of the skin. Therefore, it is important to shield your skin against the UV rays of the sun by using an effective sunscreen. Also make sure you wear protective clothing and head gear when you venture out in the sun.
Use an Efficient Sunscreen
It is common knowledge that you should use a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects against the UVA as well as the UVB rays of the sun and has a decent SPF. However, apart from the SPF measure you should also consider the ingredients of the sunscreen. Use a sunscreen that has a rich combination of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and hydrating agents. Exfoliate Twice a Week

Get hold of a good exfoliating product or scrub and make sure you exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. Do take care not to over-exfoliate your skin as it may damage the skin cells.
