There are many causes of acid reflux yet some claims are still unconfirmed by the doctors. Find out what are some of the possible causes and see if you currently have or experience them. If you happen to experience more than one of the following, make sure to seek the medical advice of your doctors.
Defective lower esophageal sphincter, hiatal hernia, lifestyle, asthma, and pregnancy are just some of the most common causes that most people suffering in acid reflux may have experienced prior to the actual case.
In this article, we will discuss the causes of acid reflux and how some of these could be avoided like in the case of lifestyle through a lifestyle change. Probably the most common cause is the defective lower esophangeal sphincter. It is the condition wherein the sphincter does not function properly.
Since the esophangeal sphincter is known to contract strongly to push the food into the stomach, it has to remain strong until the food finally reaches the stomach. In any case that it would falter from its function, the food will travel back to the throat and mouth.
This is one of the most dangerous causes because once it’s unable to function properly, the acidic contents from the stomach will go back to the esophagus and may cause painful burning of the throat, heart and not to mention acidic taste in the mouth. Once you continually experience the failure of your sphincter, be sure to consult a doctor is it may be one of the many causes of acidic reflux.
Hiatal hernia is another possible reason or cause of acidic reflux because it can impair the function of the same organ of the body that pushes the food into the stomach. It is a condition wherein the upper part of the stomach moves into the chest through a muscle or small opening in the diaphragm.
Others may not know it but pregnancy may also cause acidic reflux as most women may experience it on their last few months. It generally happens because the growing baby presses on the stomach and may push the contents back to the esophagus.
This is not as serious as the previously mentioned causes of acid reflux because once the baby is born the condition will also stop. There are many other possible reasons and it’s important to keep track of these possible causes and discuss it with your doctor.
