Pyoderma faciale – Usually women between 20 and 40 years old get this type, which comes with nodules, pustules and sores. The good news is that it does not last longer than a year, and isotretinoin is great for treating it.
Acne vulgaris – This type of acne is the most common and is characterized by whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules and really painful nodules. The good news is that this type is easily treated with home remedies like oatmeal masks, or over the counter topical treatments.
Acne fulminans – The severity of this type of acne is similar to that of acne conglobata, except that fulminans usually comes on abruptly with younger males. It is accompanied by fever and aching joints, however a strong treatment of isotretinoin and oral steroids is usually effective enough to get rid of it.
Acne conglobata – This is probably the most severe type of acne, and mainly affects males. The large interconnected lesions and widespread blackheads characteristic of this form of acne are best treated with isotretinoin, although there is still the chance of severe scarring after treatment.
