Tetracycline is considered to be the best acne treatment remedy, by many people. It is often used to cure acne by many people. Various dosage forms are available which contain tetracycline and can be used to treat acne.
Actually tetracycline is a good antibiotic and effectively kills the bacteria. The bacteria that are present under the skin pores produce certain toxins. These toxins formation is the main cause of inflammation under the skin. The inflamed skin portions can be seen from outside in the form of pimples or acne spots. In order to cure acne it is necessary to control the bacterial activity. Tetracycline kills these bacteria effectively and reduces the acne symptoms.
The adverse effect of tetracycline administration is on the body immune system. There are certain bacteria present in the colon that are considered as the human friendly bacteria. These bacteria are responsible for the establishment of body immune system. The tetracycline administration also kills these friendly bacteria. As a result, the body immune system is disturbed and become weak. This condition is very dangerous for the body and health. The enemy bacteria will be now able to attack the body and there will be little or no resistance. In this condition the body needs the administration of antibiotics to kill these enemy bacteria.
Therefore it is not recommended to use the tetracycline as the long term treatment of any disease or condition like acne. It will destroy the body immune system and will produce the long term bad effects on the body.
