Genital Acne and Its Prevention and Treatment
Being embarrassed about genital acne will not get you any closer to treating it. Having genital acne does not mean that you have a sexually transmitted disease. It simply means that you may have to be more careful about personal care as well as the things you wear. Folliculitis, or genital acne, is more common than you think and can easily be remedied.

A good way of treating genital acne is to try to find out what is causing it. Genital acne can be caused by wearing dirty under garments, irregular cleansing of private parts, excessive sweating, or even by wearing clothes made of material that your skin is not happy with. Since your genitals are the most delicate and sensitive part of your body, you will find that genital acne tends to happen there if you are not mindful of hygiene.
Some great tips you can follow to reduce the occurrence of genital acne is to use a good antibacterial cleanser. These can be bought at any drug store. Or you can even ask your doctor to recommend a good brand. Do not overdo it with the cleanser either. One use in the morning and before you go to bed will suffice.
Another tip is to allow your private area to have as much ventilation as possible. Instead of wearing tight jeans all the time, wear a dress or light shorts to let the air flow. Cotton is a recommended material for underwear since it helps your skin get the air it needs to stay fresh. Wearing looser clothing will also prevent excessive sweating and acne breakouts because of sweating.
Be mindful about the body soaps that you use on your skin, as well as the detergents you use on your clothes. Some soaps may dry out skin quickly and the same goes for detergents which may trigger a reaction in your skin when you wear clothes washed in it. Try to use more organic based soaps for best results, or mild soaps that are known to be good for baby skin.
If you feel that you have tried your best in trying to find the cause of genital acnes, but none of your actions are helping, then maybe it’s time you see your gynecologist or physician. Your doctor can give you a check up and recommend topical medication for your private parts, or even antibiotics if needed.
