Affordable Daily Care to Get Rid of Pimples Fast
There’s nothing worse than facing a big event–say, an upcoming dance or first date, for instance–with a face full of pimples. So what to do about it?
Sure, there are a seemingly unlimited number of products available on the market to treat acne, including scrubs, creams, and even drugs. But these products are often expensive, abrasive, or downright ineffective. Is it possible to clear up your skin while maintaining its vitality, without costing a fortune?
Indeed it is. Unfortunately, acne is one of those genetic predispositions that strike people to varying degrees and at unexpected times. So here we’ve put together a simple, 3-step guide to not only defend your face against pimples, but also to keep your skin looking its very best when clear.
Step 1 – Keep Your Face Clean
Using a facial cleanser twice a day (once in the morning, and once before bed often works well) will ensure that your pores are kept clear of dirt and oil. Let’s take a moment to be clear about what an ideal “facial cleanser” is. First of all, and perhaps somewhat surprisingly, it’s not soap. Soap will not only dry out your skin, but also leave behind a residue that can actually end up clogging your pores. It isn’t those alcohol-saturated pads, either–in addition to being expensive, the chemicals they contain can leave your skin dry and irritated as well.
Instead, look for a good facial cleanser that involves washing with water. Many name brands offer “acne fighting ingredients,” but don’t pay extra for their marketing. Any good facial cleanser will do the trick.
A couple of tips before moving on:
- When washing, use your bare hands and warm (not hot) water. Wash cloths won’t clean better but will irritate your skin.
- Speaking of hands, try keep them off of your face during the day. As our primary means of interacting with the world around us, they contact and carry around a lot of dirt and oil that can end up in your pores.
Step 2 – Use an astringent, or even easier, Benzoyl Peroxide
Again, be careful here not to be swayed by any catchy gimmicks promising clear skin in a few days from any company marketing an astringent. The best solution for a skin condition like acne is often the simplest and cheapest.
An easy way to cover this step is a cheap (probably $2 or so) bottle of Benzoyl Peroxide and a bag of cotton balls. Dermatologists have recommended and people have used the stuff for years for their skin conditions with great success.
This is also helpful to know:
- A dab ‘ll do ya with Benzoyl Peroxide. Dampen–don’t saturate–the cottonball and apply lightly. No need to rinse afterward.
- Be careful with Benzoyl Peroxide around the hairline and eyebrows. I speak from experience here, as when I was a teenager I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why my hair was starting to turn several shades lighter.
Step 3 – Keep your skin moisturized
This is really important. While it’s true that excess moisture can be a cause of pimples, it’s still vital to your skin and harmless if applied scrupulously. A twice-a-day cleansing (even by the relatively light standards of our regimen so far) will have your skin begging for the moisture it lost.
Again, make sure your hands are clean before applying. The moisturizer should be the last agent to touch your face before the nightly round.
Summary
Using the steps of our regiment may not clear every blemish from your face, but it will give you the best natural defense against pimples, short of changing your genetic profile. Remember that executing the system more than twice a day will only serve to irritate the skin. Likewise, not keeping up with the twice a day schedule could lead to less desirable results.
Consistency is the key!
